| This superb folk art grouping depicts the love triangle of John F. Kennedy (35th President of the United States, duly noted by the artist), his wife Jacqueline and movie star Marilyn Monroe. Wimp Gibson was a great wood carver and the son-in-law of the Appalachian wood carver Troy Webb who was married to Webb's daughter Geneva. The Gibsons and the Webbs lived in rural Claiborne County, Tennessee near the Kentucky line. Gibson is deceased. All three pieces are fashioned from buckeye and are signed and dated 1992. Dimensions: JFK is 24 inches tall, Jacqueline is 17-1/2 inches, and Marilyn Monroe, dressed in a fabric bikini, is 21 inches tall. Gibson's carvings tell a story. As with all great art, it's up to you to interpret it. | |||||||||||||||
