MID-CENTURY MODERN IMPRESSIONIST HUDSON RIVER/T. SHOUDY
Theo (Theodore ) Shoudy (American, b. 1881 Brooklyn, NY), the Hudson River Valley Impressionist, painted and signed this great oil on board fall scene circa 1946. A painter and teacher, Shoudy studied at Adelphia College, the prestigious Arts Student League, and with William Merritt Chase and Jane Peterson. He has exhibited widely and has won awards in the New York area in the 1930s-1950s. He is listed in "Who Was Who in American Art". Dimensions: 12 x 16 inches, sight size, and 18-3/4 x 22-1/2 inches in its gorgeous frame. On the back is inscribed "Rebecca & howard Good Luck & Happiness Fall Scene Elm Ave. Staatsburg about 1946".
