1914 RAILROAD PRESENTATION TROPHY/NY RAILROAD CLUB
This terrific sterling silver railroad presentation pitcher was made by Reed & Barton and was presented to George W. Wildin, President of the New York Railroad Club on December 18, 1914 from the Executive Committee. The New York Railroad Club appears to be a forum for railroad executives which met as long ago as 1896 to discuss common railroad issues like safety and capacity of freight cars. (See the NY Times archived article from an 1896 New York Railroad Club meeting minutes.)Many names important in railroad are engraved on the pitcher, including George W. Wildin, Frederick C. Syze, Burton P. Flory, James Milliken, R.M. Dixon, A.J. Tone, B.A. Hegeman Jr., Charles Shults, A.E. Mitchell, H.H. Vreeland, J.F. Deems, W.G. Besler, H.S. Hayward, Frank Hedley, W.J. Harahan and E.Chamberlin. Dimensions: 9-1/2 inches tall at the handle x 9-3/4 inches handle to spout x 9 inches high at the spout. Weight is a heavy 31.31 troy ounces. Center is approximately 7 inches at widest point x 4-1/2 inches, and base is 5 x 3-3/4 inches. This is an amazing piece of railroad memorabilia.
