AMERICAN VICT. COMPLETE 4-PC STERLING SILVER CHILDS SET
This American Victorian sterling silver four-piece child's set was made by William B. Kerr & Co. (Newark, NJ, 1885-1906. An extreme rarity in its completeness, the set consists of a plate, a creamer, a porridge or cereal bowl, and a mug. In 20 years, this is the first complete set we have seen. The Kerr firm was purchased by Gorham in 1906 and eventually moved to Providence in 1927. Each piece is beautifully monogrammed AEH. Dimensions are as follows: Plate, 6-1/2 in. in diameter, weighing 3.40 troy oz. Creamer: 4-3/8 in. high x 4-1/2 in. handle to spout, weighing 5.85 troy oz. Porridge/Cereal Bowl: 4-3/8 in. in diamter x 1-7/8 in. high, weighing 5.20 troy oz. Mug: 2-5/8 in. high x 4 in. handle to rim, 3.79 troy oz. This is a wonderful gift for a baby, which will serve him well through his toddler years, but more importantly this is a true object of rarity for the discerning collector.
