1856 CHILD'S PORTRAIT 2 BALTIMORE GIRLS/ROBERT AKER
This absolutely charming oil on canvas double portrait of the Skinner children was painted in Baltimore by the British artist Robert Aker (Liverpool,England. The painting is signed verso "Miss/Sarah Skinner/Miss Mary nner,Baltimore/Robt.Aker/pinxt/Liverpool August 1856." Obviously the little Skinner girls are members of a family of privilege. One sister is wearing a white dress and holding a bunch of grapes; the other is in a red dress, kneeling & holding apples in her lap. Dimensions: 35 inches high x 30 inches wide, sight size; 44 inches high x 36-1/2 inches wide, in an antique frame. This is a wonderful children's portrait by an extremely skilled artist.
