SUPERB COIN SILVER FISH SET/MAYFLOWER NYC 1846-9
This superb coin silver fish set in the Mayflower pattern comes from the shop of Henry David at 8 Little Green Street, New York City. Until recently, these pseudohallmarks were unidentified. Both pieces are stamped and they read, from top to bottom, an eagle with NY, HD in a diamond, and a bust. They can be found in John McGrew's book "Manufacturers' Marks on American Coin Silver." The knife, ornately etched and engraved with a bird and an architectural scene, measures 11-5/8 inches. The fork, also intricately decorated, measures 9-3/4 inches. This is a gorgeous, functional set of coin silver in beautiful condition, ready to adorn your holiday table.
