| Robert Atkinson Fox (American, Philadelphia 1860-1927) painted this wonderful oil on canvas of a cow cooling its heels in a stream. Fox was a painter and illustrator who is listed in Who Was Who in American Art. From 1900 until his death, millions of this artist’s color photolithographic reproductions were consumed by the American middle class. R. A. Fox painted more than 1000 cows, horses, dogs, native Americans, and bucolic landscapes in various styles. He exhibited at the Philadelphia Art Club in 1898.
