This piece is a numbered sculpture by artist Chris Donnelly from Michigan. Donnelly ventured into carving wooden people beginning in the early 1990's. He has carved hundreds of wooden figures using only basic carving tools, such as gouges, files, and knives. According to Donnelly, "These figures emerge from everyday life, memories, old photos, family, and myself." This piece numbered #133 is signed and dated by the artist. It measures 24 x 9 1/4 x 4 1/4.

SULTON ROGERS (b. 1922-d. 2004) was the last of the Mississippi self-taught wood carvers and one of the greatest. He settled in Syracuse, New York, and learned something about carving from his father when he was young, taking it up again when he needed something to keep him awake during night shifts at a chemical plant.
