$1000

This wonderful recumbent Austrian bronze camel is resting beside his camel driver. The bronze figures have been executed in great detail and are polychromed. They form a fine, large tableau: the camel measures 3.75" h x 8" l x 4" deep, and the camel driver is 3.25" h x 3" w x 2.75" d. This is an exceptionally well done piece.

SULTON ROGERS (b. 1922-d. 2004) was the last of the Mississippi self-taught wood carvers and one of the greatest. He eventually moved back to Mississippi to be with his people. From sugar pine, Rogers fashioned snakes, vampires, "haints” (spirits), bodies in coffins, figures with humoro ...click for details
