It is a depiction of a castle high on a majestic hill overlooking the Hudson River Valley with sailboats gliding on the water. It is enhanced with an ornate period antique Victorian gilt frame. ...click for details

The men in the shack look quite businesslike in their dress and demeanor. The painting is signed and dated Fil. (Fic.) Jos. Kern 1928. Canvas size is 23-3/4 x 31-1/4 inches; framed, the painting is 27-3/4 x 35-1/8 inches. It is a little quirky in its portrayal of a slice of life from that time period.
